Our newly renovated guest rooms feature an exquisite deep, freestanding circular bathtub providing you with opportunities to unwind and let go of stress. The bespoke cabinetry has been carefully designed, and custom built to complement these beautiful bathing vessels and we include the same aromatherapy body products that we use in our spa, as a heavenly experience in the comfort of your room.

our story

Chimes Spa Retreat had been operating for 26 years when I purchased it in February 2022 with a vision to provide an unparalleled high-end retreat experience combining the natural beauty of the surrounding landscape with the healing touch of expert therapists.

Never did I imagine that I would take on a project like this, yet, as I crossed the threshold and stepped through the front door, a surge of excitement coursed through me, igniting a flame of inspiration that I never knew existed within.

The initial impression of the space was far from remarkable. Dated décor adorned the walls, and the echoes of time seemed to linger in every corner. But amidst this apparent lacklustre, I found a treasure trove of potential waiting to be unearthed. It was as if a veil had been lifted, allowing me to see beyond the surface and envision the beauty that lay beneath. In that moment, I realised that I had stumbled upon more than just a project; I had discovered my passion.

As I embarked on a large-scale renovation of the property during the winter of 2022, I drew inspiration from my African roots and own travel experience to create something that was stylish and beautiful but also welcoming and inviting. A palette of monochromatic tones and lots of natural materials such as timber panelling, vertical timber slatted screens, thick woven rugs and chairs inset with wicker was used to soften the spaces and create a hug-like feel. When I look around at the haven we have created here, against a stunning backdrop of rolling hills with views to the ocean, I’m reminded of infinite possibilities that await us when we embrace the unknown, when we dare to dream and turn those dreams into reality.

With the simultaneous renovation of the Chimes Day Spa the theme of high-end luxury was continued. With the intention to create a world of blissful serenity, our Day Spa now offers a sanctuary for those seeking relaxation, renewal, and self-discovery, from the cosy double or single treatment rooms to the breathtakingly beautiful Spa Oasis with soft lights, embossed wall tiles and custom-built treatment tables with a sauna, steam deck, Vichy shower and cold plunge pool. The serene surroundings of the Chimes Day Spa provide the perfect backdrop for our guests’ wellness journey, whether they seek a solo escape or a memorable time with loved ones.

I am incredibly proud of the transformation that we have achieved during the challenges of a global pandemic in what has been an extraordinary time in history. We have had so many guests tell us that Chimes Spa Retreat has been just what they needed. In a time when the world seemed to be spinning faster than ever, our sanctuary has provided a space of solace and rejuvenation. The haven we've meticulously crafted, has offered them a chance to pause, to reflect, and to heal.

It's heart-warming to hear their stories - of couples finding a renewed connection, of individuals discovering a sense of inner peace after devastating personal tragedy, and of friends reuniting and finding joy in each other's company once more.
